In addition to working with Chapter 8 of Rev. Ike’s Science of Living Study Guide we would like to offer you a second message from Rev. Ike entitled, You Can Work Wonders with Your Mind. Rev. Ike developed and first taught this lesson in September of 1973.

Now, here is the September message from Rev. Ike.

YOU CAN WORK WONDERS WITH YOUR MIND

We teach you how to do the good that you want done for yourself by means of your own indwelling God Power.  So there’s no miracle human being here.  If you want to use that term, the miracle man is within you.  The miracle worker is within you.  We don’t tell you a theological fairytale about there being a great big guy in the sky that’s going to do something for you—orto you for that matter.  We teach you that the Power that is going to do something for you is within you.  This idea is getting people of all races, creeds and colors excited. We deal with the Law of Mind here.  The Law of Mind, the Bible says, is no respecter of person.  I tell you all of life is nothing but idea and all you need is the right idea, the right idea about yourself and the sky won’t be your limit. 

Affirmation #1

The sky is not my limit. I have no limitations!

All you need is the right idea.   Everything is an idea and everything begins as an idea.  “In the beginning was the Word,” the idea,” and the Word was with God.”  “The word was God.”  You will be the god of your experience.  All you have to have is the word, the idea, in your mind.  And the word always becomes flesh.

With nothing more than an idea of flying the Wright Brothers changed society forever with their demonstration of the Science of Aerodynamics.  They had a little bicycle shop and no doubt looked out the window one day and saw birds flying and said with the songwriters, “…birds fly over the rainbow,  why oh why can’t I” (Over the Rainbow, music by Harold Arlen and lyrics by E.Y. Harburg). 

When I came to New York City back in the 50’s and walked down Central Park South I saw those impressive Rolls Royce automobiles for the first time.  Through the window of the Plaza Hotel on the Park there were people sitting inside eating Filet Mignon and washing it down with Dom Perignon and disserting on Strawberry Shortcake oozing with fresh whipped cream, I said within myself, “Now this is the joy of living; if these people can do it, then why oh why can’t I.”

Always see yourself identifying with ideas of good.  In the immortal words of George Bernard Shaw, “Some men see things as they are and say, "Why?" I dream of things that never were and say,  ‘Why not? ’.”  I am teaching you to use your mind to visualize your ideal and to say, “Why not.” 

Affirmation # 2

I can work wonders with my mind.

You can work wonders with your mind. There is one important thing that you must do: You must make up your mind.  That is number one, make up your mind.  Make up your mind what you want to be.  Make up your mind what you want to do.  Make up your mind what you want to have.  You can work wonders with your mind but first you must make up your mind. 

When you make up your mind, your mind-power goes forward to work for you.  Wow!  You see, when you make up your mind, something always happens.  Because, the idea of which you make up in your mind is the word that goes forth out of my mouth (Isaiah 55:11).

Affirmation # 3

The idea that vibrates from my mind is my word that goes forth out of my mouth.

The theologians have taken this Scripture simply to mean that there is some great, big God up in the sky that shouts at everybody, and says, “Not you, you’re going to hell!”  And to another person He says, “You are to be poor! And to your teacher He says, “You’re to be sick.” And to  your neighbor He says, “Hey, watch out I’m going to put some tribulations on you and your family.”

The word that creates your life is not the decree of some cosmic potentate.  The word of God is the idea that vibrates from your mind.  People think this letter [the Bible] is the word of God.  People think that God handed down this Bible from Heaven.  The Word of God is the Divine Idea that vibrates from your mind.  When you make up your mind, that’s your word, and then that word goes forth.  The beautiful thing about it is that ReverendIke has said. “The moment you accept an idea, everything necessary for the fulfillment of that idea begins to happen.” That’s why it is important to make up your mind.

I would like to discuss this a little further. I have discovered in this ministry that there are so many people that have not made up their minds. If you really make up your mind, that you want something good, everything else necessary for you to get it, will happen. Do not vacillate between two opinions. Here is the meaning of the text from James 1:8, “a double minded man is unstable in all his ways!” You see, mind-power does not know what you want it to do. The cosmic law of mind has to work with an idea which has already been accepted, and the moment you accept the good you desire your mind-power goes before you to makes all of the necessary contacts. Then mind- power says, in the words of the Scripture, “I send my messenger before your face, and I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.”

What does that mean? It means when you make up your mind, the vibrations from your mind will go before you, and even where obstructions appear to be like a wilderness – I will even make a way in the wilderness – I will clear your path before you – I will get everybody and everything that’s in your way, out of your way –I’ll clear a path, you don’t have to fight with anybody, you don’t have to fuss with things, you don’t have to be frustrated with the appearance of impossibility, make up your mind, and I, your mind-power, I, the vibrations from the Mind and the Power of God-in-you, will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.

Whoever heard of rivers in the desert? I, your mind-power, will do it, if you make up your mind. So if there are good things that you want in your life, just make up your mind that you want these things and don’t give yourself any excuses.

Now I’m going to put it in terms you can apply to your every situation.

Affirmation # 4

There is no reason why I cannot have the good that I want unless I invent the reason why I cannot.

All of your obstructions are self-invented. All of your obstructions are self-constructed. All of your barriers are self-constructed. Thank God, they can be self-destructed. Through your mind-power you are your own devil, you are your own God, you are the only one who gives to yourself, and you are the only one who takes from you.  The President nor the Governor can take anything from you.

Let’s stop right here because all of this ought to BLOW YOUR MIND. You ought to stop and think for a moment here: the only reason you cannot have the good that you desire is the reason you yourself invented. You said, “Yes I want a new home but…” That’s your own but that’s in your way.

Let me make this last statement and I want you to write in your heart as well as in your notes: There is nothing that a made-up mind cannot do.

Affirmation #5

My made-up mind can do all things!

This is the way Reverend Ike says it. Jesus says it this way in Mark 9:23, “Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.

A made-up mind can do anything. When I say made-up mind, I mean decide the good that you desire to be to do and to have. Specify the good, which you desire to be to do and to have. As you make up your mind be quite selective and choosy. I hear people praying a pious prayer, “Bless me Lord if it’s your will.”

What does the Lord-mind say to that kind of prayer? “Choose you this day…” Please make sure you choose correctly.  The Lord-mind also says, “…command you me.” For each person can truly say, I am a commander and director of the God Power in me.

Affirmation #6

I am commander and director of God power in me.

AFFIRMATIONS FOR September

Use the Power of your spoken word to say these Affirmations for yourself at least twice every day throughout this month of September:

Right here and right now I make up my mind to be healthy.

I make up my mind to be strong.

Right here and right now I make up my mind to have what I want to have, to be what I want to be, and to do what I want to do.

I make up my mind that God in me is my health in every part of my physical body

God in me is my Strength.

God in me is my eternal youth.

I make up my mind to be happy right now.

The joy of the Lord, is my strength

I make up my mind to love.

I forgive myself for being less then my divine Self.

I forgive myself for every mistake.

I forgive myself for every negative thought and action.

I love myself correctly therefore, I love others correctly and the right people love me for the right purpose.

I draw all of the right people for every right purpose into my life because I am loving and beloved.

I make up my mind to be successful; I make up my mind to be prosperous.

I make up my mind to have more money than I ever had.

I make up my mind to receive more moneymaking ideas that bless everyone and me.

Now go forth into September knowing and believing your made-up mind can create all the good you desire to have in your experience!
